We have a beautiful picture window in our master bedroom. It absolutely gorgeous. And I have no earthly idea what to do with it. The previous owners installed blinds. I'd love to replace them with curtains for a more personal, less industrial look, but...that little arch at the top throws me. Any brilliant ideas for marrying curtains with arched windows?

Day 234/365--Window Woes

Just an idea, place the curtain rods wide and high so the entire window frame (arched part and all) are covered when the curtains are closed, but when they're open you get the full shape. You can also use double curtains on a double rod (a thicker curtain with a sheer underneath) so you can see the arch even with some sort of barrier from the outside without fully closing the curtains. It may add something to the room as well to have a nice big window appearance. Or you can have two rods, one with sheer over just the regular windows, and one high that covers all so the arch is only not open when the full curtains are pulled.
ReplyDeleteWe have this problem and the prior owners decided to have both blinds and a rod. I would recommend the double rod concept, but put in on the strip between the bottom of the arch and the top of the rectangular window. Then the arch still shines through. Just how we're coping!
ReplyDeleteAlicia--Wow! You are a font of ideas. That's given me a lot to think about, thank you. : )
ReplyDeleteLcrr--That makes sense. : ) Thanks for the input!
