I was digging through my old sketches, patterns, and plans the other day, looking for the plan for my Mother's Love quilt. And what did I come across, but this gem. My quilting diagram for my very first quilt ever.
I had forgotten completely about this sketch. I had drawn up the major piecing lines of the quilt and Xeroxed them to give me multiple copies. Then I pencil sketched in my ideas on top, with this one being the winner.
The little circles were meant to be buttons, but, in the end, I decided to leave them off. You can see how I tried to mix it up with both organic (the hearts) and geometric (the "vines") shapes. And how the diamonds in the border didn't quite line up. I ended up just fudging them in. : )
