I have developed a routine when I get home from work. Come in the door, talk to the cats, call upstairs to the hubby, walk over to the kitchen island, kick off my shoes, drop my keys and purse on the island, detach my badge, drop that on the island too. Pet the cats (who are by now DYING from lack of attention) and head upstairs to change and talk to the hubby about dinner. It's like a science. And it keeps everything I will need for the next morning in a convenient location where I can grab it all as I head out the door.
