Tonight I washed dishes (even all the hand wash!) and made some tea. It always makes me feel good to have all the dishes cleaned. For an instant, I have a corner of my life Martha-Stewartized--peaceful and clean and I can pretend it always looks like that. While I cleaned I thought of a friend of mine who will likely be stopping by this week. We've known each other since I was 11 and she gave me the knives that you can see drying as a wedding gift. She haggled for them in Germany and told me that she looked forward to seeing them being used years in the future when she came to visit us. That gave me the kick the rear to get a start on hanging our knife racks...and to discover that they are too long to fit in the one spot I could come up with for them. I think I'm going to look into those knife organizers that fit into drawers (I don't like knife blocks much). Any suggestions?
Funny to see you did dishes. We just finished doing dishes over here. It took one hour. One long hour of dishes. That's just crazy.
