I have been absolutely moved lately by the generosity of two etsyians, so I wanted to take the time to thank each of them.
Before I do, I just want to say, this isn't the first time that I have been struck and awed by the overwhelmingly generous and kind "spirit" of etsy. Many other etsyians have sent me extras, thank yous, given shout-outs, commiserated with me when I was down, been super understanding, celebrated with me when I was happy and generally been a bang up group of people. If I were to make a list of every Etsyian who ever impressed me with their generosity, we would be here all day. (Not that that is a bad thing) : )
Today however, I would like to focus on the most recent kindnesses.
First, a big THANK YOU to Kathyrn of Interior Glass Designs. She is a member of my FAE street team and she is such a kick! She is one big ball of enthusiasm, encouragement, and support. She is a very vocal member of our team and always up for anything new. Not to mention her work is *gorgeous*. Seriously, look at this little guy and tell me you can say no?
Every Sunday, I post a new interview with a FAE member on our blog. (Go check it out!) I edit for typos and obvious grammatical errors, but mostly I let our members words speak for themselves. One week, one of our members answered the question "What do you like most about the fantasy genre?" in part "If I want a flying teacup…then yes I can have a flying teacup by golly. (no one is going to say…that’s not what a teacup should be doing!! )". Despite her caveat that it was 2 in the morning, I stole that quote horribly out of context to drum up readership for the blog on the Etsy forums. : )We all had a bit of fun with that one.
Well, Kathryn not only has a heart of gold, she has the memory of an elephant too! Simply because she is wonderful, she said she had a surprise for me. Imagine my shock (and joy, because it was a good shock) when she sent me the link to these pictures:
I was grinning ear to ear! I can't wait to see it in person! It is such a special and thoughtful treasure, it will have a place of honor in my craft room!
The second piece of generosity that made my mouth just drop was from a brand new etsyian. I found Tim Chumley's Shop while bumming around Etsy. I loved the translucent effect of his fruits and could envision a kitchen full of them; so I hearted him. A little while later I received a convo from him asking for some advice. I was absolutely flattered that he would ask me and I happily set out answering his questions and giving plenty of unasked for advice. (Because, as you may have realized by now, I'm a bit talky and I like giving advice). He was appreciative that he told me to pick out a couple of his prints as a thank you gift. I was floored!
After some consulting with the husband, I put together a list of my top three fruits (to get started on that kitchen decor of awesome):
I am just flabbergasted by how warm and generous the etsy community is. It's in evidence every day on the forums, in the PIFs, in the listings for charities, in the goodwill and free advice and helping hands on hundreds of hundreds of blogs. And next week, it will be in my mailbox! ; )
I too have been stunned the the thoughtfulness and generosity of fellow Etsians. What a wonderful community. I love that Flying Teacup. Doesn't she do awesome work?
ReplyDeleteOh absolutely! I desperately want to get some of her stained glass pieces but I'm holding off since we are renting.... : /
