I think some of my reluctance for keeping in touch with acquaintances far away is due to the limitations of the phone. If you have a friend who lives close you can do something while you talk and hang out. But even with a headset, a phone still places limitations on what you can do and still talk. So I guess I see sitting down to talk as "doing nothing" and I feel like I have to get everything else done first--and we all know that never *quite* happens.
Over the past year and a half, I've tried to make a conscious effort to call, write, and keep in touch with the important people in my life. It still isn't easy or natural for me to carve out that time, but I can see the difference in the quality of my relationships. : )
I am very bad at keeping in contact with people as well. Glad I checked out your blog. I did so because I have been tagged by another etsian. Please go to my blog to get the scoop. I will be back an a regular basis though.
