I am surprised that it took me this long to spotlight a jewelry seller. While I am not big on bracelets or rings I simply adore pretty, feminine earrings and necklaces. Etsy has opened my eyes to all kinds of unique and exciting jewelry techniques that I never found in the sameness of my local Macys. One of my favorite categories is simple metal jewelry. (Not a huge surprise given my undying love of silver as an accent to any outfit). And one of my favorite jewlerysmiths is ninadesigns.
Her designs are fresh, elegant, and most importantly of all--versatile. When I look at her pieces I can imagine wearing them with blue jeans or a little black dress, or just about anything any between. Her clear design aesthetic plays across her collection of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, cuffs, rings, and pendants. Texture, color, and dimension are carefully entwined together in each piece. Her shop has an addictive quality--the more you look, the more you find, the more you find, the more detail you notice, the more detail you notice, the more you appreciate each piece. While you may start with one clear favorite, it soon becomes impossible not to favorite most everything in her shop!
The two images below are my personal favorites. Trying to objectively select two items that would both convey the range of the shop and demonstrate Nina's talent was proving impossible so I simply went with the pieces that I covet the most. : )
The first image is the item that introduced me to Nina's shop--a pair of dainty earrings made of sterling silver circles adorned with copper hearts. The contrast in color makes the hearts instantly noticeable, but the choice of copper neatly sidesteps the overwrought hearts=red connection. These earrings demonstrate the feminine whimsy that infuses much of Nina's jewelry.
The second image shows a necklace that is meant to move with you--a simple snaking piece of silver wire dangles on a sterling silver chain. Not only is the pendant beautiful even when stationary, but the idea of jewelry that responds to your motions and, essentially, becomes a multitude of different pieces over the course of the day is highly appealing. This necklace also seems like a good "worry" piece for those (like me) who like to fiddle with things when thinking or nervous.
With designs that are beautiful, well made, and versatile, ninadesigns is my first stop for jewelry that will be eye catching at home this weekend, in the office during the week, and for years to come.
I agree about the talent of etsy jewelery shops. I didn't realize there was so much beautiful trinkets availble at etsy until I participated in SNS this past weekend. I found your site through the etsy blog thread.
